Cast steel globe valves are used to regulate fluid flows. Available in an assortment of sizes and materials, these versatile valves make them suitable for many different industrial applications. When choosing one for yourself, there are some key considerations you should keep in mind such as your application requirements and personal style preferences - choosing one that is tailored to meet those requirements will help maximize return on your investment.
Cast steel globe valves boast several key advantages over their counterparts, such as:
1. This valve offers short and easy opening and closing strokes, and its stem axis is perpendicular to the sealing surface of its valve seat for faster opening/closing action. Furthermore, its small opening height makes it an excellent choice in applications where space is at a premium; in addition, its double seal (bellows + stem packing) minimizes wear while minimizing leakage.
2. The spherical seat design provides an effective seal while exerting minimal force on the disc.
The spherical shape of the valve seat was designed to facilitate accurate placement of disc, creating an airtight seal with minimal pressure and eliminating the need for valve stem thrust block, which could become vulnerable under high operating conditions.
3. Heat treatment of the spherical seat face and body mating faces achieves differential hardness values for maximum performance.
Cast iron valves typically feature bodies and bonnets made of ductile iron, a durable material suitable for withstanding different temperatures and environmental conditions. Their spherical seats and seat rings typically consist of bronze material; however, other trim materials can be substituted upon request. Their mating faces may also be heat treated to achieve differential hardness values that help prevent seizing or galling of the valve.
4. The medium passage in the valve body is more tortuous, leading to higher fluid resistance and power consumption.
Cast steel valves feature one-way design that cannot be reversed when operating, causing its medium to flow from above the valve disk into its cavity and cause erosion of its disc.
5. The low torque design provides superior open and shut-off capabilities. This cast steel valve's stem design enables it to open and close with minimal force, cutting operational costs while increasing efficiency. Furthermore, its wedge-shaped structure can ensure effective sealing under various working conditions.
No matter the industry, Cast steel globe valves offer many benefits to users in every field. They are an excellent way of controlling liquid flow within chemical plants while being easy to install in any installation location - all you have to do is select and maintain it properly!
